No matter what time of year it is or what the roads throw at you, a Jeep can get you through it. The Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee remain very popular crossover SUVs among consumers thanks to their impressive capability and well-designed cabins. Although you will find a good deal of overlap between these two vehicles, they each have unique options, features, and specs.

Performance

Coming standard underneath the hood of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee is a 2.4L MultiAir® inline 4-cylinder that will provide you with 180-horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. This comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine for the 2019 Grand Cherokee is a 3.6L V6 that gives you 295-horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine works with 8-speed automatic transmission. With this powertrain, the Cherokee can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and the larger Grand Cherokee goes all the way up to 6,200 pounds.

The Cherokee has two additional engine options. They are a 3.6L V6 that generates 271-horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque and a 2.0L turbocharged engine that produces 270-horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. For the Grand Cherokee, you can choose a 5.7L V8 that generates 360-horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, a 6.4L V8 that produces 475-horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, or a 6.2L Supercharged V8 that will make an unbelievable 707-horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

Appearance

Both the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are known for their ruggedness. They both utilize a unibody construction. Both of these vehicles also show off the seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches that make these Jeeps stand out from the competition. These vehicles look very similar to each other, with the Cherokee being a more compact version of the Grand Cherokee. Despite their sportiness on the outside, there is plenty of luxurious touches available in both of these crossovers.

Features

Either of these vehicles will give you standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Coming standard in the Cherokee is a 7-inch screen, while the Grand Cherokee has an 8.4-inch screen instead. This larger screen is an upgrade that is available of the upper trim levels of the Cherokee. Both of these vehicles offer their drivers Bluetooth, USB ports, and 12-volt outlets.
